How to Find Your Apple Serial Number

Your Apple Serial Number is a unique alphanumeric code assigned to your specific device. You need it to check warranty coverage, start a repair request, or verify the authenticity of a product. Here are the easiest ways to find it, no matter which device you own.

Method 1: In the Settings App (The Easiest Way)

If your device turns on and you can unlock it, this is the safest and fastest way.

  • On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > General > About. The Serial Number is listed in the top section. You can press and hold it to copy.
  • On Mac: Click the Apple logo () in the top left corner of your screen, then select About This Mac. The serial number is displayed in the window that appears.
  • On Apple Watch: Open the Settings app on the watch, then tap General > About.
  • On AirPods: With your AirPods connected to your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the "i" next to your AirPods, and scroll down to the Serial Number.

Method 2: Engraved on the Device Itself

If the device won't turn on or the screen is broken, you can often find the serial number physically printed or engraved on the hardware.

MacBook & iMac Turn the laptop over; it is printed on the bottom casing near the regulatory markings. For iMacs, it is on the bottom edge of the stand.
AirPods Open the charging case. The serial number is printed on the underside of the lid.
Older iPhones / iPads On older devices (like the iPhone 6 or original iPads), the serial number is engraved directly onto the back aluminum panel.
SIM tray On many recent iPhones, you can pull out the SIM card tray and look very closely (with a magnifier) at the edge of the metal tray itself to see the numbers etched there.

Method 3: Check Original Packaging or Receipts

If you have lost your device or it was stolen, you can still find the serial number.

  • The Original Box: Look for the barcode sticker on the bottom or back of the original packaging. The serial number is listed there, usually right below the barcode.
  • Purchase Receipt: Most retailers (especially Apple Stores) print the serial number of the purchased devices directly on the physical receipt or the email invoice.
  • Apple ID Website: Sign in to appleid.apple.com with your Apple ID. Scroll down to the "Devices" section, and click on your missing device to reveal its serial number and IMEI.
