How to Check Apple Warranty
Whether you’re buying a used device or need a repair, it’s crucial to know your Apple warranty status. Every new Apple device comes with a 1-year Limited Warranty, and you might also have extended coverage through AppleCare+.
Method 1: Check Directly on Your Device (iPhone & iPad)
The quickest way to check if your iPhone or iPad is covered under warranty is by looking directly in the iOS settings.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General, then tap About.
- Look for the section that says either AppleCare+, Coverage Expired, or Limited Warranty.
- Tap on it to see the exact expiration date and details of your coverage (e.g., Hardware Coverage, Chat & Phone Support).
Method 2: Use the Official Apple Coverage Website
If you don't have the device set up yet (or if you are buying it online), you can check using its Serial Number on Apple’s official site.
- Find the Serial Number of the device. (Usually printed on the original box, etched on the back of older models, or found in Settings).
- Visit the official Apple Coverage page: checkcoverage.apple.com.
- Enter the Serial Number and solve the Captcha.
- The site will display whether the device has a valid purchase date, phone support status, and repair/service coverage.
What the Results Mean
- Valid Purchase Date: Essential for warranty claims. If Apple doesn't recognize the purchase date, you may need to update it by providing a proof of purchase.
- Telephone Technical Support: Apple provides 90 days of complimentary phone support. If expired, you can still chat with them or visit a store.
- Repairs and Service Coverage: This is the hardware warranty. If it's active, Apple will repair manufacturer defects for free. If you have "AppleCare+", it covers accidental damage for a deductible fee.
